Sherlene Vince, LMSW

Sherlene graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a Master’s in Social Work. She began her career as a clinical social worker in the Louisiana Department of Corrections. With dedication and a goal directed spirit, she was able to shine a light emphasizing the importance of mental health in the field of corrections. Sherlene was promoted in this role to serve as the clinical director, which allowed her to implement and supervise the mental health program including allocating resources for social services as well as a track for substance use disorder identification. From the Department of Corrections, she transitioned to community mental health and became the executive director responsible for planning, development and implementation of outpatient and crisis services.

Sherlene brings warm, compassionate and caring energy to her clients. She specializes in improving self-worth, problem solving skills, developing powerful communication skills to allow for conflict resolution, coping strategies, and adjustment in life transitions. Most importantly, she instills hope, helps you create possibilities and develop a sense of inner peace. She uses a variety of counseling techniques including cognitive behavior therapy, insight-oriented therapy, use of family systems and solutions focused techniques to help clients address concerns related to depression, anxiety, trauma, life changes, as well as other problems which are associated with emotional and mental wellness.

Sherlene also has deepened her passion in group work by leading the multidisciplinary team at Serenity. With group serving as the primary modality, she has succeeding in providing education about mental health and wellness while working alongside other professionals at Serenity with a team approach.
